WCED enclosure & component builder
Build your own consumer unit shopping bundle: choose a WCED enclosure, add the devices specified for your project and see your spare DIN space as you go.
Supplied as separate components. Factory-fitted equipment is listed for each enclosure. Additional devices arrive loose for your installer to fit.
Choose single or three phase, then the enclosure size and factory-fitted configuration. Included equipment is counted automatically.
Filter by component type or search a part code. Adjust quantities and watch the spare-space bar and price update.
Review every part, quantity and price. One button adds the enclosure and all selected components to your basket.
Choose the supply type specified by your installer.
For a three-phase project, send us your component list so we can confirm the enclosure. The components below are for planning; online assembly selection is currently available for single-phase enclosures.
Choose an enclosure to see what is included.
Choose the devices specified for your installation. TPD-specific RCBOs and MCBs are excluded.
Use an example to explore the builder, then change the parts and quantities. These demonstrate space and price calculations; they are not installation designs.

A custom consumer unit starts with the enclosure and the devices your installation needs. This WCED component builder keeps the part list, spare DIN capacity and estimated bundle price together, so installers can compare enclosure sizes and configurations before ordering.
Empty enclosures give you a starting point for a component selection. Main-switch, SPD and twin-RCD variants include equipment that is already paid for and already occupies space. The builder uses the selected variant’s usable capacity rather than subtracting the same allowance from every board.
DIN-space check only. The installer must verify the complete assembly, busbar compatibility, voltage/current ratings, wiring space and protection requirements. This tool does not design, assemble or certify a consumer unit.
You can select a WCED enclosure and separate components with this builder. It totals their DIN module widths and prices. Your electrician remains responsible for selecting, assembling, wiring and verifying the complete installation.
No. Additional devices selected in the builder are supplied separately. A selected enclosure may already include factory-fitted devices, such as a main switch, SPD or twin RCDs. These are listed under “Already included” and are included in the enclosure price.
The calculator starts with the selected enclosure’s total module capacity, reserves the space occupied by factory-fitted equipment, then subtracts the width of each additional device multiplied by its quantity. Grey blocks show fitted equipment, green blocks show your additions and empty blocks show spare capacity. It counts module space; it is not a wiring or physical layout drawing.
Not always. A DIN module is a unit of device width, typically around 18mm. A device can occupy one or several modules. Advertised ways may describe outgoing circuit positions or the enclosure size. Use the usable capacity for the exact enclosure configuration rather than assuming every advertised way is spare.
Yes. Their occupied space is reserved automatically for the selected enclosure variant. It is not the same for every configuration. For example, the current WCED WME10/SP specification lists seven usable positions in a ten-module enclosure. Adding a two-module RCBO leaves five spare positions.
The builder blocks additions that exceed its DIN capacity allowance. Remove a component or select a larger enclosure. Leave room for future additions where practical. Your installer must also check wiring space, device depth, heat dissipation, row layout and any required separation.
Choose the supply type at the start. The filter narrows the component choices; it does not certify a complete electrical design. Single-phase factory-fitted consumer units must not be treated as three-phase assemblies. For three-phase projects, contact us with your component list so we can confirm an appropriate enclosure before you order.
The listed enclosed switches can be included as separate external add-ons. They do not occupy DIN space inside the consumer unit. A bare switch needs a verified mounting-space allowance before it can be offered as an internal component. A changeover switch and a contactor are different devices.
The total is the current enclosure price plus the quantities of your selected components. The page shows standard component prices excluding VAT and a UK VAT-inclusive estimate at 20%. No additional builder discount is currently applied. Delivery is calculated at checkout. Example builds are editable selections, not quotations for installation work.
No. It checks the listed DIN-space allowance only. A competent electrician must check the enclosure and device manufacturer instructions, voltage and current ratings, busbar connections, protective-device coordination, thermal limits, earthing and the finished assembly. A space match is not a compatibility certificate.
The mapped selection includes non-TPD-specific MCBs and RCBOs, AFDD/RCBO devices, RCDs, main switches, surge protection and modular contactors. TPD/TPN-specific RCBO and MCB listings and EVSE/EPC products are excluded. Only components with a mapped width are offered for internal DIN-space calculations.
These are possible project contexts, but the required protection depends on the installation. The examples are shopping selections to demonstrate the builder, not ready-designed EV, solar or workshop circuits. Ask your electrician to specify the parts before ordering.
