Simple to Install. Quick to Commission.

The Alpha7 is designed with installers in mind — no unnecessary components, a clear terminal layout, and straightforward commissioning via the app. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

⚠️

Qualified Installer Required: A qualified and experienced installer must carry out this work, observing all local and national wiring regulations relating to EVs. Incorrect installation will invalidate the warranty.

01
Unbox & Inspect

Open the Alpha7 carton and check for transit damage. Verify all items: charger, mounting template, T20 torx bit, 4× stainless screws, 4× DeWalt wall plugs.

02
Choose Location

Select a flat brick, concrete or masonry wall, ideally out of direct sunlight. Fix height: 0.9m to 1.5m from the ground. Allow cable access.

03
Mark & Drill

Use the mounting template to mark holes. Drill 8mm holes at least 40mm deep. Hole centres: 95mm (W) × 215mm (H).

04
Open & Prepare

Remove the 4 front cover screws with the T20 torx. Drill gland holes and fit glands for cable entry direction. Entry from bottom, LHS or RHS.

05
Mount to Wall

Fix the Alpha7 to the wall using the 4× stainless-steel screws supplied into the pre-drilled DeWalt wall plugs.

06
Make Dead & Wire

Isolate the supply cable. Wire Live (Brown), Neutral (Blue), Earth (Green/Yellow) to MAINS IN (J1). Torque to 1.3Nm. 10mm strip length.

07
Optional: Solar / DLM

For Dynamic Load Management, fit CT clamp to main incomer and wire to J4 'DYN LOAD'. For Solar, wire Solar Integration cable to J4 'SOLAR'.

08
Set Comms DIP Switch

Set S4 to preferred mode: BLE default (S1↓ S2↓), WiFi/Ethernet (S1↑ S2↓), BLE alt (S1↓ S2↑), WiFi+OCPP (S1↑ S2↑).

09
Close & Power On

Replace cover and torque screws to 2Nm. Power on. Blue LED = ready. Any other colour = fault (see troubleshooting).

10
Commission via App

Download the FastAmps app, pair via Bluetooth using the 6-digit password on the mounting template. Configure charging current, times, and optional features.

Electrical Requirements

Everything You Need to Know.

Answers to the most common questions about the FastAmps Alpha7 EV charger.

Is the FastAmps Alpha7 genuinely made in Britain?
Yes. The Alpha7 is designed, manufactured and supported in the United Kingdom and carries the official Made in Britain certification. Key components including PCBs, enclosures, sockets, RCD sensors, fascias and fixings all come from UK suppliers across Shrewsbury, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Leamington Spa and Merseyside.
What is the maximum charge speed of the Alpha7?
The FastAmps Alpha7 Gen4 delivers 7.3kW at 32A on a 220–240V single-phase supply. This adds approximately 30 miles of range per hour of charging for a typical electric vehicle. The charging current is adjustable between 6A and 32A via the app, allowing the installer to match the charger to the property's electrical capacity.
Does the Alpha7 support solar panel integration?
Yes. The Alpha7 features Dynamic Solar Charging, which connects to your solar inverter output via a dedicated connector (J4 'SOLAR' on the Power PCB). The charger automatically adjusts its output current according to the surplus electricity your panels are generating — maximising free solar charging and reducing your electricity costs significantly. The function is enabled via the app (default: Solar disabled).
Can I install a FastAmps Alpha7 if my home has a limited electrical supply?
Yes. The Alpha7's Dynamic Load Management feature uses a CT clamp on your main incomer to monitor total household electrical demand in real time. When high loads are active elsewhere, the charger automatically reduces its output current to prevent tripping the main fuse. This means a FastAmps charger can often be installed even on properties where the electrical supply would otherwise be a constraint.
What connectivity does the Alpha7 support?
The Alpha7 supports Bluetooth (BLE), WiFi, and Ethernet, selectable via an internal DIP switch. The default is Bluetooth, which is used for local app control during commissioning and daily use. WiFi mode enables broader home network integration, and OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is supported when WiFi mode is enabled — useful for fleet or commercial management platforms. Ethernet provides a permanent wired connection option.
Does the Alpha7 need professional installation?
Yes. The FastAmps Alpha7 is a Mode 3 AC EV charging station for permanent connection to the AC supply network. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician who is familiar with local and national wiring regulations, specifically as they relate to EV charging. Fast Amps will not accept liability for damage caused by incorrect installation, and incorrect installation is likely to invalidate the warranty.
Is the Alpha7 compatible with my electric vehicle?
Yes. The Alpha7 is compatible with all electric vehicles sold in the UK and Europe. The untethered version has a Type 2 (EN62196) socket — the universal standard for AC charging in the UK and EU. The tethered version comes with a Type 2 cable. All current EVs including Tesla (with adapter or directly), BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Renault, and all others support Type 2 AC charging.
What is the Alpha7 warranty and how do I claim it?
The Alpha7 comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty covering all defects in materials and workmanship, including parts and labour. To extend the warranty start date to your installation date, email hello@ecoharmony.co.uk with your serial number, installation date, installer name/address/phone, and installation postcode. To make a warranty claim, contact hello@ecoharmony.co.uk. Warranty service includes free collection and replacement, return and repair, or on-site repair at the manufacturer's discretion.
