An EV charger can draw as much power as the rest of a home combined. This CT clamp sensor monitors your total electrical load and adjusts charging speed in real time — without running a cable from the meter cupboard to the charger.
Load balancing without running a cable to the meter
A wired CT clamp does the same job, but only if the meter cupboard and the charger are close enough to run a cable between them — often not the case where the consumer unit is at the front of the house and the charger is at the rear, or in a detached garage. This unit clamps onto the meter tails and talks to the charger over Bluetooth instead, up to 40 metres away, which covers most UK homes without any additional wiring.
How it works
Wireless, up to 40m
Pairs with your Plus charger over Bluetooth — no cable run between meter and charger.
Real-time load monitoring
Tracks total household demand and reduces charge rate automatically as it approaches your supply limit.
Solar-aware
Detects surplus solar generation at the meter and increases charge rate to use it.
Simple commissioning
CT clamp fitted to your meter tails by your electrician — no additional cable route to plan around.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need this for my Plus charger?
It depends. If you have a standard 100A single-phase supply and low household demand when charging, you may not need it. If you have solar panels, a lower-rated supply, or a high-demand household, it's recommended. Your installer can advise.
How far away can it be from the charger?
Up to 40 metres via Bluetooth — sufficient for most UK homes, including cases where the meter is at the front and the charger is at the rear or in a detached garage.
Does it work with solar panels?
Yes. It monitors net flow at your meter, including solar generation. When surplus solar is available, it signals the charger to increase its rate automatically.
Is it compatible with Basic models?
No — Plus models only. Basic models support scheduled charging but not dynamic load management via this accessory.
Does it require a cable run to the charger?
No. It communicates wirelessly via Bluetooth. The only wiring is the CT clamp on your meter tails, fitted by your electrician during commissioning.
