An EV charger can draw as much power as the rest of your home combined. The Wireless Energy Manager monitors your total electrical load and adjusts charging speed in real time — no overloaded circuits, no cable runs, no tripped breakers.
The Wireless Energy Manager is a CT clamp sensor unit that mounts near your main electricity meter and pairs with your Plus charger via Bluetooth. Unlike wired CT sensors, which require running a long cable from the meter cupboard to the charger, this unit transmits wirelessly up to 40 metres — avoiding the need for a separate cable run and making installation significantly simpler in most homes.
Once installed, it continuously monitors how much electricity your household is drawing and sends that data to the charger. If your home's total load approaches its supply limit, the charger automatically reduces its output to compensate. When household demand drops — or when your solar panels are generating surplus power — the charger increases output accordingly. The result is maximum charging speed, automatically, with no risk of overloading your electrical supply.
Compatible with all Simpson & Partners Plus models (7kW and 22kW, wall-mounted and freestanding). Not required for Basic models.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need this for my Plus charger?
It depends. If you have a standard 100A single-phase supply and low household demand when charging, you may not need it. If you have solar panels, a lower-rated supply, or a high-demand household, it is recommended. Your installer can advise.
How far away can it be from the charger?
Up to 40 metres via Bluetooth — sufficient for most UK homes, including cases where the meter is at the front and the charger is at the rear or in a detached garage.
Does it work with solar panels?
Yes. It monitors net flow at your meter — including solar generation. When surplus solar is available, it signals the charger to increase its rate automatically. When generation drops, it adjusts to avoid overloading the grid supply.
Is it compatible with Basic models?
No — Plus models only. Basic models support scheduled charging but not dynamic load management.
Does it require a cable run to the charger?
No. It communicates wirelessly via Bluetooth. The only wiring is the CT clamp on your meter tails, fitted by your electrician during commissioning.

For a more reliable connection than Wi-Fi — particularly in garages or outbuildings with poor signal — the Ethernet Adaptor adds wired connectivity to any Plus charger with a single plug-in.
The Ethernet Adaptor connects your Plus charger directly to your home network via a standard Ethernet cable. It is designed for situations where Wi-Fi signal at the charger location is weak — common in detached garages, outbuildings, or properties with thick stone or brick walls.
Wired connections are inherently more stable than wireless, which matters for features that depend on a consistent cloud connection — particularly scheduled charging, Octopus Intelligent, and remote monitoring. The adaptor does not replace Wi-Fi; both remain active, so the charger uses whichever is more reliable. No electrician is required — installation takes a matter of minutes with a standard screwdriver.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need this for my charger to work?
No — Plus chargers work over Wi-Fi. This adaptor is for situations where Wi-Fi at the charger is unreliable. If your charger drops its connection or smart features behave inconsistently, this is the fix.
Which chargers is it compatible with?
All Simpson & Partners Plus models — 7kW Plus socket, 7kW Plus tethered, 22kW Plus socket, and their freestanding equivalents. Not compatible with Basic models.
Does Ethernet disable Wi-Fi?
No. Both remain active simultaneously.
A cable left coiled on the ground undermines even the most premium charger. This colour-matched hook stores it neatly — in seconds, every time.
The Simpson & Partners Cable Hook is a purpose-designed accessory for tethered home chargers. Colour-matched to your charger's finish, it stores the cable neatly when not in use — keeping your charging area tidy and protecting the cable from the wear of lying on hard standing.
It is made with a powder-coated metal front panel and a robust plastic mounting bracket, consistent with the quality standards of the charger itself. Fitting is straightforward with a standard screwdriver, and it mounts directly to the charger housing, an adjacent wall, or a freestanding pedestal. Compatible with all Simpson & Partners tethered models.
