The 7kW Plus Tethered combines the most capable home charging technology Simpson & Partners produce with the practical convenience of a permanently attached 6.8 or 9.6-metre Type 2 cable. It is the right choice for households with solar panels who also want the simplicity of a tethered setup.
Built-in energy monitoring lets you track exactly how much electricity you're using, and the charger integrates with the Wireless Energy Manager (sold separately) to balance your home's electrical load dynamically — useful if you're concerned about the charger drawing too much alongside other appliances. Octopus Intelligent integration means your car can charge automatically at the lowest overnight rates.
A colour-matched cable hook is available separately to keep the cable tidy when not in use. Like all Home Series units, this charger is UK-manufactured with a modular design, a 5-year hardware warranty, and a 10-year enclosure warranty.

What is the difference between the Plus Tethered and Basic Tethered?
Both have a permanently attached 6.8 or 9.6m Type 2 cable. The Plus adds solar charging compatibility, built-in energy monitoring, and dynamic load management via the Wireless Energy Manager. If you have solar panels, choose the Plus.
Can I use solar energy to charge my car?
Yes. When paired with the Wireless Energy Manager (sold separately), the charger detects surplus solar generation and automatically adjusts charge rate to use that surplus — reducing cost by maximising your free solar electricity.
Is there a cable hook available?
Yes. A colour-matched cable hook is available separately and mounts directly to the charger or adjacent wall to keep the cable tidy between charges.
