For homes with solar panels, complex electrical setups, or anyone who wants smarter control over how and when they charge — the Plus takes home charging further.
The Home Series 7kW Plus adds a meaningful step up from the Basic: it includes built-in energy monitoring, solar charging compatibility, and works with the Simpson & Partners Wireless Energy Manager to dynamically manage your home's electrical load. If you generate solar power, the Plus can prioritise charging from your panels rather than the grid — reducing your electricity costs further without any manual intervention.
The socket design accepts any Type 2 cable, and the unit connects to your home network via Wi-Fi or — with the optional Ethernet Adaptor — a wired connection for the most stable performance. Smart scheduling, Octopus Intelligent integration, and full app control are all included as standard.
UK-made with premium materials throughout, the Plus carries a 5-year hardware and 10-year enclosure warranty. Its modular design is built to be upgraded rather than replaced as technology evolves.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need the Wireless Energy Manager with the Plus charger?
Not necessarily. The Plus has the hardware to support dynamic load management, but it requires the Wireless Energy Manager near your electricity meter to activate this feature. If you're not concerned about overloading your supply and don't have solar, you may not need it. If you do have solar or a high-demand household, it is strongly recommended.
How does solar charging work?
When paired with the Wireless Energy Manager, the Plus charger detects surplus solar generation and automatically increases your car's charge rate to absorb that surplus, rather than exporting it back to the grid at a lower rate. When solar output drops, the charger adjusts accordingly.
Can I connect via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi?
Yes. The Ethernet Adaptor (sold separately) plugs into the Plus charger and connects it to your router via a cable — ideal for garages or outbuildings with weak Wi-Fi. Both connections remain active simultaneously.
What is the difference between the Basic and Plus?
The Basic includes smart scheduling and app control. The Plus adds solar compatibility, built-in energy monitoring, and dynamic load management. If you have solar panels or a high-demand household, the Plus is the better choice.
I spent quite a bit of time comparing chargers before going with Simpson & Partners, and I’m glad I did. The build quality is the first thing you notice — it feels properly premium compared to some of the more plastic-looking units out there. I went for the 7kW Home Plus (tethered), and installation was straightforward for my electrician.
The app took a little bit of getting used to at first, but once set up, scheduling charging around cheaper overnight tariffs has been really easy and reliable. Charging speeds have been exactly what I expected, and it’s been completely faultless day-to-day.
It is a bit more expensive than some alternatives, but you can see where the money goes in terms of design and quality. If you want something that looks good on your house and just works, it’s definitely worth considering.
