The Simpson & Partners Home Series 7kW Basic is a wall-mounted EV charger built for UK homes, designed from the ground up to be both technically capable and visually considered. Unlike mass-produced units, it uses premium materials with custom colour finishes available, so it complements your property rather than detracts from it.

At 7kW on a single-phase supply, it will fully charge a typical EV overnight. The charger supports app-based scheduling and is compatible with Octopus Intelligent, letting you charge automatically at the cheapest off-peak rates. A wired energy manager is included if you want to prevent the charger from drawing too much from your home's supply at peak times.

The Basic model uses a Type 2 socket, so any EV cable plugs straight in — useful if you own more than one vehicle or want visitors to be able to charge. Both the hardware and enclosure are manufactured in the UK; the unit carries a 5-year hardware warranty and a 10-year enclosure warranty, backing a modular design that can be repaired rather than replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Basic and Plus versions?

The Basic model includes smart scheduling and app control and dynamic load balancing via a wired energy manager. The Plus model adds solar charging compatibility, built-in energy monitoring, and dynamic load management via the Wireless Energy Manager. If you have solar panels or a more complex electrical setup, choose the Plus.

Does this charger work with my electric car?

Yes. The Type 2 socket is the UK and European standard for AC home charging, compatible with all modern EVs sold in the UK. You will need your own Type 2 cable, usually supplied with your vehicle.

How long does it take to charge a car at 7kW?

A typical EV with a 60–75kWh battery charges from 20% to 80% in approximately 6–8 hours at 7kW — ideal for overnight charging.

Can I get a custom colour finish?

Yes. Simpson & Partners offer a range of standard finishes and can accommodate custom colour requests. Contact Eco Harmony for lead times and pricing.

Is professional installation required?

Yes. EV chargers must be installed by a qualified electrician under Part P of the Building Regulations. An unqualified installation will void the warranty and may invalidate your home insurance.
