This pre-fitted single-phase consumer unit comes ready-wired with an RCBO and Type 2 surge protection device, designed for straightforward EV charger installations where all the protection components need to be in a single, neat enclosure. It reduces installation time by arriving fully assembled — the installer simply mounts it, makes the incoming and outgoing connections, and the board is ready.

Pre-wired and ready to connect. All components are factory-fitted and tested. This board is designed to reduce on-site wiring time for EV charger installs — particularly useful on busy domestic schedules where efficiency matters.
Does not include PEN fault detection. If the installation is on a PME supply, a separate PEN fault detection device is required under BS 7671 Amendment 2. See our combined PEN fault + surge unit for the all-in-one PME solution.

Frequently asked questions

What does pre-fitted or ready-wired mean?
It means the RCBO and surge protection device are already installed and wired inside the enclosure when it arrives. The installer does not need to fit individual components — they simply mount the board, connect the incoming supply, and connect the outgoing circuit to the EV charger. This saves time on site, particularly when installing multiple units.
Does this include PEN fault detection?
No. This board provides RCBO and surge protection only. For a PME supply, you also need PEN fault detection — either a separate module or the combined PEN fault + surge unit which includes all three functions in one enclosure.
What type and rating of RCBO is included?
A 40 A Type A RCBO. Type A is suitable for single-phase AC EV charger circuits where there may be some DC content on the AC supply. The 40 A rating provides adequate headroom for a continuous 32 A charging load at 7 kW.
Is this suitable for a domestic installation?
Yes. This unit is designed primarily for domestic single-phase EV charger installs. It can also be used on light commercial installs with a single-phase supply. For 3-phase or commercial multi-charger applications, see our 3-phase range.
