This IP30 indoor 3-phase consumer unit provides RCBO protection and Type 2 surge protection in a pre-wired metal enclosure, designed for three-phase EV charger installations in indoor locations such as garages, workshops, and plant rooms. It is available with an RCBO or MCB depending on whether the charger includes its own residual current protection.
Designed for indoor 3-phase EV charger installs. The IP30-rated metal enclosure is suitable for protected indoor locations. For outdoor or exposed mounting, see the IP65 weatherproof version.
This unit does not include PEN fault detection. If the installation is on a PME (TN-C-S) supply, a separate PEN fault detection device is required under BS 7671 Amendment 2. See our 3-phase PEN fault detection unit for the complete PME solution.

Frequently asked questions
What does IP30 mean — is it suitable for a garage install?
IP30 means the enclosure is protected against solid objects larger than 2.5 mm but has no specific water ingress rating. It is suitable for use inside a garage, workshop, or utility room where the board is not exposed to rain, splashing, or condensation. It should not be mounted in a location where it could get wet. For outdoor or exposed installs, choose the IP65 version.
What is the difference between this and the IP65 version?
The IP65 version uses a weatherproof plastic enclosure rated for outdoor and exposed locations, including external walls, driveways, and car parks. This IP30 version uses a metal enclosure rated for protected indoor use only. Both include the same RCBO/MCB and Type 2 surge protection options.
Does this unit include PEN fault detection?
No. This unit provides overcurrent and surge protection only. If the installation is on a PME supply, you will need to add a separate PEN fault detection device. See our 3-phase PEN fault detection unit.
Should I use the RCBO or MCB variant?
If your EV charger already includes a built-in RCBO or RDC-DD, use the MCB variant to avoid duplicating RCD protection. If the charger has no RCD protection, use the RCBO variant.
